The tricky aspect of product reviews is that people can be very different. I had tried many products to help me with dry skin. My skin became so dry that it didn't even feel normal to the touch, much too scaly. It wasn't natural. Dove moisturizing bars seemed to make it worse than Ivory. I am NOT impressed with Dove products. The difference after less than one bar of Tom's is amazing. I agree that soap is an odd thing to get excited about, especially for a guy. However, nobody wants reptile scales for skin.
This product is really good for me and I don't think the manufacturer tries to sneak in cheaper and lower quality products like most corporations seem to do these days. Amazon is a great place to buy in Tom's in bulk. It is not always easy to find certain Tom's products, and I got tired of playing Wal-Mart's "find me" games because they move their product location every two weeks to force you to pick through everything. Tom's also makes great toothpaste, dental floss and mouthwash.
Update 04/01/11: I still think the toothpaste and mouthwash is great. My dental hygienist commented about me missing places with my flossing, She gave me a sample of Reach Gum Care dental floss. I have to admit that I like it better than Tom's. It is soft and grabs the teeth without rubbing hard on the gum. The Reach floss has a nice minty taste too. But as I said above, a lot depends on the person.
