Customer Reviews of Vitamin D3 1000 IU (1000 IU, 180 Softgels)Customer Review: With the high levels of people with vitamin D deficiencies, great to keep these around! Summary: 5 Stars
Very simply Vitamin D3 in gel caps. Smaller than some of the same dose & easy to swallow.
Great dose so you can change the amount you are using, until you find the dose you need.
In increments of 1,000IUs, you can take 1 or even 10 a day if that is what you need (Don't exceed the recommended dose without the advise of a health care provider.)
If you are prescribed very high doses, such as 50,000IUs with smaller dose in between, get the high dose, then get these for the smaller doses in between.
Vitamin D deficiencies are coming to the attention of the medical community, as we get far less sunlight. We are told that to stay youthful that we need to stay out of the sun, or if we do go in the sun, to slather on sunscreen. It is no wonder that osteopenia, osteoporosis and even scurvy is on the rise, and unfortunately even common.
In addition, vitamin D supplementation is generally done in milk and other products which has been so processed that many of us can no longer tolerate it, thus having to resort to alternatives which often do not have the levels we need.
Our bodies were designed to get vitamin D from sunlight, not to have to take it in a bottle! YET, here we are! We are also told that sun exposure is "dangerous" in almost any amount, thus fractures that are bone density-related are on the rise.
We generally don't have that 15-30 minutes a day to spend in the sun that we really need. Sadly, our need for sunlight is generally neglected, thus we need a vitamin D supplement, and have to wonder what else we are missing as our bodies process sunlight. I'm sure time will tell.
In the mean time, take your vitamin D3!
Description of Vitamin D3 1000 IU (1000 IU, 180 Softgels)Calcium is also important to nerve cells, including the brain. The main function of phosphorus is in the formation of bones and teeth. It plays an important role in the body's utilization of carbohydrates and fats and in the synthesis of protein for the growth, maintenance, and repair of cells and tissues. It is also crucial for the production of ATP, a molecule the body uses to store energy. Animal research suggests that vitamin D may help maintain a healthy immune system, by assisting in the regulation of the normal function and growth of immune cells. The National Institutes of Health have stated that it is important for individuals with limited sun exposure to include good sources of vitamin D in their diets to prevent deficiency.
